The artist that we have been trying to present to our audience for a year has finally been jammed and we have conducted a short interview as wished by our audience for the individual that has hits after hits, gets all the love he needs, the player in the game and the one and only Big J and here is his first interview with a magazine although he has done many for radio stations and TV shows.

Big J, firstly of all tell us about your background, parents and education?
I was bought up in a small town called forest gate, in London by my mother and father. I then went to a local school in forest gate where I learnt a bit about music. Then I was interested in music which made me learn more about it and my dedication led to where I am now. My parents have nothing to do with music. I am a self-made man.

Big J how was your Journey until now?
Well my journey has been abit like a rollercoaster really; I have had a few ups and a few downs. I think that if my life continues like this I will lose it. I think that I have gone through a lot of struggle to get where I am now and I thank Jesus Christ for all he has given me and the courage to tackle new challenges.

Who in your view is the best rapper in the hip hop industry at the moment?
Well at the moment I think that its li’l Wayne because his lyrics have meaning which I felt that have hit my heart deep in. I have been watching li’l wayne since I was a kid and I think he was killin it, gonna kill it and will keep killin it in the future.

Which music genre do you enjoy the most and why?
To be honest my top genre is Hip hop, not only because I am a representative of it but because of what other rappers have to bring in this category. I am pleased to be along with such gifted artists.

Do you think the music industry is changing?
Well, to be honest I can’t really say much as I have jus started but from what I know of in the past I think that there is no one like Tupac yet, but yeah, there are a lot of artist making videos at home and uploadin them on youtube and are getting a high amount of views which is impressive. Especially, as technology is increasin youngsters are getting more chances to show their talents.

Do you have anything coming up for us in the future?
Well no one can really predict the future so let’s see what the future has to bring for me. I can’t really say anything. As the trend changes I change along with it and I am happy with that.

Do you help with charitable events?

Yes, of course, I do many performances that raise a lot of money and I make sure the money goes to people that need it the most because I don’t need money, all I need is the love from my fans and yeah, I do try to do my best for everyone.

What genre of music will your magazine cover?
The genre I am deciding to do is Hip Hop and the basic reason for it is because I am interested in that genre and I want to find more which I will find by doing genre research. The reason why I am doing Hip Hop is because it want to know what the Hip Hop artists do to come on front covers and how the media represents them to their specific target audiences. I want to do modern hip hop because I think the music hip hop industry is the best at the moment even though having some artists that were old school such as Tupac. I want to learn more about the hip hop genre which I enjoy the most.

Who are the target audience?
The target audience for my magazine are teenagers which are specifically aged 18 + because some of the content that will be on my magazine the people that are below the age of 18 will not understand. I think that they will be my target audience but obviously I have to conduct research on who actually listens to hip hop. The purpose on why I have chosen this specific age group is because I think they are mostly interested because they love listening to explicit language which people that are older do not really comfortable about and the kids that are below 18 will not understand, well, unless they have older brothers, sisters that plays it and they listen to it. The gender I am going to be focusing on is going to be males because as me being a male myself I understand what males like to hear and statistics show that not many girls listen to hip hop music as boys listen to it more. Girls may also not feel comfortable with the language or they may not understand it.

What is the name of your magazine?
The name of my magazine is going to be “Reloaded” because I think that this relates to the hip hop genre and means load something again which could relate to people loving music and then reloading the music that they love.

What will your masthead look like?
My masthead is going to be saying reloaded which is going to be in a fuzzy writing which makes it look lively. It is going to be covered in headphones which will make it relate to DJ’s because I think that the masthead suggests DJing.

What photography will be required?
There is going to be a mid-shot of the male model because this makes it focus on what the model is wearing e.g. clothes, jewellery which is part of mise-en-scene. I am going to be doing a mid-shot because it allows the audience to see the facial expressions of the models face which I will be making him look like a scruffy and rough characters which most hip hop artists are like these days especially in the modern times of the hip hop part.

What mise – en – scene will be required?
I am not going to be using a lot of mise – en –scene elements but I am going to make my model wear lot of jewellery because it shows the audience that you have wealth which everyone wants to show but not everyone is fortunate enough to wear it. My character is going to be wearing earing, ring and a gold necklace. The clothes that my model is going to be wearing is a baseball jacket and a baseball cap which represents that he is free and can wear his own clothes not uniform which shows freedom of the character, which is part of the everyday life when you’re famous.

What feature article will be on your contents page?
The feature article on my contents page is not going to be much but all it is going to have is the introduction of what is going to be in the main article on my DPS which will be fully shown on the actual DPS. I am going to be using a main image and a sub image of my model on my contents page. There are going to be a variety of different colours that are going to be used on my contents page which will match with the clothes that the models are going to be wearing. The font will also be a hip hop pop which I will try and relate to the genre I am going to do which is hip hop.

What is the focus of your DPS?
My main focus of the DPS is try to introduce a new artist which will be being interviewed for the first time in terms of media. He is going to be a bit nervous because it is the first time after he will innovating with the audience after his smash hits in the past. My double page is going to be color coded into different colors because I don’t want my magazine to be one color I am going to be involving colors that represent the world so I am going to be using a variety of different colors so everyone is involved in my creation. My DPS is going to have a main picture and no sub images because I want the audience to focus on one picture so they are not confused because some magazine that I have read in the past have sub images and I get confused on who they are talking about, which I don’t want to happen to my target audience. My DPS will have page number which all double page spreads have but near the numbers I am going to putting the mast head of my magazine which will be part of my logo, therefore this would mean that the magazine is a magazine released by the record label targeting the specific artist which has made there record label a massive hit. I am going to be having enlarged quotes across the DPS which will attract the target audience in reading because sometimes when I am not bothered I do not read the whole article but if it has something which I am interested in then I would read it. I am going to construct the magazine according to my experience which I use magazine because I am also part of the audience which I am making my magazine for.

What photography will be required on your DPS?
I am going to try and use a full shot and see if my model can fit on to the whole page but if not then I am going to fit him by using a mid- shot but showing some part of the leg. This will make the audience focus more on the appearance of the character and show the emotions of the character. My character is going to be showing the audience on how the hip hop genre is represented in the modern generation.
